Intraocular Shields placed under local anesthesia, EENT. Must not be allergic to any of the “caines” such as lidocaine, proparacaine, etc. Must remove contact lenses prior to treatment. Bring your contact lens case. Can wear contact lenses immediately after. Must be free of active infections, viruses, autoimmune flare ups, photosensitizing medications, and injuries related to the eyes. If HSV-1 vulnerable, will be prescribed prophylactic antiviral (only out of an abundance of caution). No eye surgeries two weeks before and two weeks after treatment. Recommended to wear UV protective eyewear plus mineral based sunscreen for at least two weeks when in the sun after the procedure. Must be off retinol and/or tretinoin two weeks before and after treatment.
