BEAUTY SLEEP WITH SNORETOX
“Because quality sleep is our best friend and best beauty booster in the world!”
WHAT IS SLEEP APNEA?
Sleep apnea is a serious medical condition where breathing repeatedly stops and starts during sleep. These pauses in breathing can last from a few seconds to a minute and can happen dozens or even hundreds of times per night.
There are two main types of sleep apnea
Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA): The most common type, caused by the throat muscles relaxing and blocking the airway.
Central Sleep Apnea: Caused by the brain failing to send proper signals to the muscles that control breathing.
Sleep apnea can lead to poor sleep quality, AGING SKIN, daytime fatigue, headaches, irritability, memory problems, and even serious health risks such as heart disease, high blood pressure, and stroke if left untreated.
CAN NEUROTOXIN HELP WITH OBSTRUCTIVE SLEEP APNEA?
I have attached one of the promising NIH studies which gives us confidence in its safety and effectiveness. Neurotoxin works by temporarily relaxing targeted muscles of the soft palate, which can prevent the collapse or overactivity of muscles around the airway that contribute to blockages during sleep. We also believe that with age, our muscles start to get saggy and confused. Most people have had a mild degree of burn from hot soup or liquids thus compounding the dysfunction. Neurotoxin boosts blood flow to the area thus resetting the tone and functional capacity.
At BoBeauty, we work closely with patients to assess whether our SnoreTox is a suitable treatment option for their sleep apnea based on the severity of their condition and their individual anatomy. Snoretox is not a replacement for CPAP therapy in severe cases, but it can be a helpful adjunct or alternative for those with mild to moderate sleep apnea or those who cannot tolerate CPAP machines.
CAN YOU GET NEUROTOXIN INJECTIONS TO STOP SNORING?
Yes, neurotoxin can also help reduce chronic snoring—even if you don’t have sleep apnea.
Snoring often occurs when the muscles of the soft palate (the back part of the roof of your mouth) and throat relax too much during sleep, causing vibrations as air struggles to pass through. We can also lightly relax muscles in and around the nasal cavity if you suffer from nasal snoring.
This makes neurotoxin an attractive, minimally invasive alternative to more invasive surgical procedures or long-term reliance on uncomfortable devices.
CAN SNORETOX HELP YOU BREATHE BETTER?
Absolutely it can help improve airflow during sleep by reducing the muscular obstruction that interferes with normal breathing. By targeting and weakening the specific muscles that contribute to airway collapse or obstruction, this treatment promotes a clearer, more stable airway.
Patients treated with neurotoxin for sleep apnea or snoring often report:
Better quality of sleep
Fewer breathing interruptions
Reduced daytime fatigue
Improved concentration and mood
Greater overall quality of life
However, it’s important to note that results can vary depending on the individual’s condition, and neurotoxin injections need to be repeated every few months to maintain the benefits.
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM SNORETOX TREATMENT FOR SLEEP APNEA AT BOBEAUTY
We’ll review your symptoms, sleep studies (if available), and medical history to determine if neurotoxin is an appropriate option for you. We take your word for whether or not you believe you suffer with sleep disorders by reported symptoms, plus we take note of family report of snoring. We examine your throat to check for signs of infection (which is contraindicated for injections) and can also assess the degree of soft palate enlargement. No fancy diagnostic test required, we just treat the problem. If you have a history of herpes simplex virus we will be either pretreating you with valtrex or sending you home with a prescription day of treatment.
The procedure is quick, minimally invasive and not painful. We have you pre-gargle with a disinfecting agent. We tap the sides of the mouth with a tongue depressor to assess and decrease gag reflex. Using very fine needles, neurotoxin is injected into the identified muscles in a process that typically takes less than 30 minutes. There is little to no downtime. We ask that you eat and drink more slowly until the effects are fully realized. Report unwanted effects to your provider. We start with a minimal dose. Occasionally, we have to add a few more units after a couple of weeks. We would rather add slowly instead of starting with a moderate dose.
Effects usually begin within a few days to two weeks after treatment and typically last three to six months. Maintenance treatments are recommended to continue enjoying the benefits of easier breathing and better sleep.
This treatment is fairly new and is still being explored by various scholars just as other life changing options with neuromuscular blocking agents. It will take an open minded, direct approach to fully embrace. I wholeheartedly believe in the potential and limitless benefits.
Talk to your BoBeauty provider if you are interested in exploring this option.
