General Pre‑Treatment Steps

Avoid active skin infections or open wounds — do not schedule treatment if you have an active infection or open lesion.

Stop certain medications — avoid photosensitizing drugs (e.g., recent isotretinoin) unless cleared by your provider.

Avoid sun exposure — refrain from direct sun exposure for at least 24–48 hours before treatment.

Shave if needed — for facial treatments, shave the area 12–24 hours before to remove surface hair that could interfere with laser delivery.

Avoid certain skincare products — stop using retinoids (Retin‑A, Retin‑D, Retin‑X, Retin‑O, Retin‑V) and other AHAs/BHAs for 72 hours before treatment.

Stay hydrated — drink plenty of water before and after treatment to support skin recovery.

Avoid alcohol and smoking — these can increase skin sensitivity and slow healing.
